Hello everyone. Those who love good books and want to experience good reading, would anyone be interested in starting a book club. Each month a book could be selected for reading, and on a certain day, of the month, the book could be discussed. Please post suggestions to this board, or send me email at louvins@gmail.com. Thanks.

Yes I like this idea too. I _love to read. we could have a private conference on zbp, and if there's too many people someone could bridge us to another conference, or we could just have Chris create a bookchat room where qn's (except private ones and text boxes to answer them) and other things don't show, and those who want to chat about the books on certain day can go in there and chat.

I like the idea of a chat room, because what about those who don't have zbp? How could they chat, if it were only private conference on zbp. And everyone on zbp might not have a premium memership.b

yes I also like the idea of a private chat room, and of course of a book club.

I was just going to start one here on this board. Trying to figure a system out. I was thinking we can use a thread a month, and we can talk about the books there. So, no one would have a problem with it. I was thinking, the 25 of this month? I'd create the threads. We'd end it after the book was done when discussion for the next must start. I was going to allow a three weeks time for one book.

All sounds good, though I'd prefer a phone chat, even if it's on some other phone chat system. There are so many of them. I could look them up, if that's an option you all would consider.

I'd love to join a book club. I would also prefer to chat over the phone. Any objections to certain types of books? I'd be more than willing to post suggestions. I just need some guidelines. I'll RSVP myself to the book club event in the meantime.

Ok, I am very interested in doing this. We have to find out when the chatt room/phone system is resolved, then I guess we can start.

I like a book club. We could do it on the phone AND on threads, so we can all do what we'd like.
Any book suggestions? Well, I suppose we should pick a genre first. And make sure it's available on Web-Braille and-or Bookshare and-or Audible, of course.

Post 12 by krisme (Ancient Zoner) on Monday, 28-Apr-2008 21:56:09

Agreed. Or maybe we could do what the Friends of Bookshare site does and host book clubs for different genres. Mystery novels one night, fantasy books another, etc. I'd be willing to moderate a book discussion if anyone's interested.
And Caitlin, we should totally do an Eyeglass book club.

I am interested in a book club too. What type of books do you have in mind? Also, how would you set it up? I'm particularly interested because for those of us who don't have microphones and a way to speak something would have to be arranged. although that's something I'm looking at if I start a
bible Study group in the future.
So it's something I'd be willing to explore. Let me know or post here so everyone can check it out. Donna

I posted another board about this same idea awhile ago and would still be interested in heading the club, with peoples' help, if there is still interest. Instead of having the club be based upon a specific genre, we could try different genres and switch off. For anyone who is truly interested in starting something, please send me an email from my profile page. Once I get enough responses, I can email everyone together and we can figure this out further.

I like the idea, but before it is decided on a book, there must be a way for all to get to it. Like threw internet or something adn it be told. That away some one isn't spending there three weeks on looking for that book. Add me to the sign up list.

me too! this sounds awesome! I agree there has to be some way for everyone to get the book.

sign me up. I'd love to be involved. It doesn't matter to me how we discuss the book. I'm flexible

I am interested in a book club too and am flexible about the types of books read. The cool thing about book clubs is that sometimes you read different books that would be out of your individual comfort zone and you might enjoy something different. Or not, but still enjoy a stimulating discussion just the same. I have no way to live chat except through the phone but have flat rate long distance throughout the Us. I think this will be fun once we can work out the logistics.
